The Hunt
This is a study of New York city trash. It is a hunt that is constrained to the city.
Finding beautiful pieces of garbage is like going on a treasure hunt. You start study your surroundings in the quest of finding a rare piece of beautiful garbage: a piece well preserved, disentangled from other items of garbage and dirt, layed down on the ground to be looked at. The hunt transforms the way you see things; it becomes a study of your city's details -- like finding flowers in nature you look at every grass wondering if it would go well in your bouquet.
When studying pieces of trash as if though they were worth millions, you see their true value: the typography, which someone has designed, the colors, the chosen material, metal, glass, which someone somewhere has created. All of which we throw away. It gets burnt or recycled, used for something else that for human beings is more valuable.
